TYPES OF FINANCIAL AID
We support students to access federal financial aid (eligibility requirements), Alder GSE scholarships, external scholarships, and private loans in support of their residency year.
Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan
- Loan – requires repayment
- Up to $20,285 (after loan origination fee)
- 4.3% interest rate (20-21 rate; subject to change in 21-22)
- 1.057% loan origination fee (20-21 rate; subject to change in 21-22)
- Loan – requires repayment
- Up to Cost of Attendance (COA) after subtracting all other financial aid
- 5.3% interest rate (20-21 rate; subject to change in 21-22)
- 4.228% loan origination fee (20-21 rate; subject to change in 21-22)
- Grant – does not need to be repaid as long as you fulfill the service commitment
- Up to $5,658 if applying for both applicable award years

ESTIMATING NEED
Determining your financial need is an important step in the process of figuring out your financial aid plan. The resources below can help you estimate your need based on your personal financial circumstances.
- Cost of Attendance: The cost of attendance (COA) is an estimate of the total cost to attend the program, and it is used in determining the maximum amount of financial aid that you can receive.
- Financial Need Estimator: Helps provide an estimate of the amount of student loans that you may want to apply for.
