Financial Aid at Alder GSE

Welcome to the Alder Graduate School of Education Office of Financial Aid. We are here to help you achieve your educational goals through financial support and resources. The resources below provide information on the types of aid available, estimating need, and applying for federal financial aid.

TYPES OF FINANCIAL AID

We support students to access federal financial aid (eligibility requirements), Alder GSE scholarships, external scholarships, and private loans in support of their residency year.

Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan

  • Loan – requires repayment
  • Up to $20,285 (after loan origination fee)
  • 4.3% interest rate (20-21 rate; subject to change in 21-22)
  • 1.057% loan origination fee (20-21 rate; subject to change in 21-22)

Federal Direct PLUS Loan

  • Loan – requires repayment
  • Up to Cost of Attendance (COA) after subtracting all other financial aid
  • 5.3% interest rate (20-21 rate; subject to change in 21-22)
  • 4.228% loan origination fee (20-21 rate; subject to change in 21-22)

Federal TEACH Grant

  • Grant – does not need to be repaid as long as you fulfill the service commitment
  • Up to $5,658 if applying for both applicable award years

  • Cost of Attendance: The cost of attendance (COA) is an estimate of the total cost to attend the program, and it is used in determining the maximum amount of financial aid that you can receive.
