Alyssa was born and raised in East Side San Jose, California. She earned her BA in American Literature and Culture with minors in Chicano and Chicana Studies and Education Studies from UCLA. As a first-generation college student, Alyssa focused her studies on the complexities of the American education system and the socioeconomic factors that influence it, which inspired her commitment to educational equity and passion for anti-racist educational spaces.
She began her career in recruitment as a Talent Acquisition Coordinator for KIPP SoCal, where recruited early-career professionals for Expanded Learning Programs and School Operations Teams, contributing to the growth and development of future educators. Alyssa is currently pursuing an MPA with an emphasis in Management and Organizational Leadership, furthering her commitment to fostering equity and excellence in the educational sector.
