Christie Kieffer, PhD

Director, MPUSD Teacher Residency at Alder GSE

As Director of Alder at Monterey Peninsula, Christie is the main faculty member in her region, teaches graduate-level courses, and manages the residency at Monterey Peninsula Unified School District. Christie entered education as a middle school English Teacher in San Diego at an international baccalaureate charter school. After six years as a Teacher, Team Lead, and Mentor Teacher, Christie moved her family to work in international schools in Indonesia and South Korea. Upon returning to the United States, Christie served as an Assistant Principal at a small comprehensive high school within the Monterey Peninsula Unified School District for three years before taking on the role of Founding Director of Alder at Monterey Peninsula. Christie holds a Doctoral degree from Capella University in K–12 Studies. Her research examined the impact school-level factors (class size, school size, teacher education, and teacher effectiveness) have on Latino student achievement.
