Kenan Delgado’s journey as an educator began at the age of 16 when he worked as a lifeguard teaching swimming lessons to kids and community members at Fremont Pool in East Oakland. This early experience inspired him to transition into the classroom, where he spent 10 years teaching second, third, and fourth grade in the Oakland Unified School District (OUSD). Kenan then played a crucial role in OUSD’s transition to the Common Core Standards, serving as a Mathematics Specialist, Curriculum Developer, and Coach.
After completing UC Berkeley’s Principal Leadership Institute, Kenan moved into New Teacher Support and Development. He designed and facilitated Teacher Induction Programs in both OUSD and San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD). Most recently, he led SFUSD’s San Francisco Urban Teacher Residency (SFUTR) Program in partnership with Stanford and SF State Universities.
Kenan is a multiracial Jamerican man, born, raised, educated, and residing in Oakland. When not engaged in professional work, he is a #soccerdad, spending much of his personal time with his 11-year-old daughter and her soccer team, or cheering for the Golden State Warriors (or weeping about the end of their dynasty).
