Dala Noemi Alvarez is a first-generation college graduate from the University of California–Riverside where she received her BA in Chicano Studies. Shortly after receiving her degree, she served two years with City Year Los Angeles. While serving, she developed a passion and saw the need for tech and educational nonprofits. Dala worked for 9 Dots, an educational coding nonprofit, where she held a Program Manager position for after-school programming.

She focused on creating a safe, joyful, and engaging space for third- to eighth-grade students to teach coding curriculum and give access to coding resources to the surrounding community. She’s currently an Associate Board Member for a coding nonprofit where she raises money for programming annually.
