Recruitment and Admissions Manager

David Ortega is the Recruitment and Admissions Manager at Alder Graduate School of Education. A first-generation student native of Pomona, California, they attended Mt. SAC before transferring to UC Davis where they majored in English. Their educational journey and background informed their career in education. They worked at after school programs, substitute teaching, and as an Academic Advisor for four years in college access programs. With a variety of experiences in education, they joined City Year as a recruiter where their focus was finding and supporting candidates interested in supporting the academic success and social-emotional learning of TK-12 students. At City Year, they managed partnerships with 10 universities to support recruitment for 29 City Year sites. After four years establishing and maintaining mutually beneficial relationships with partners and supporting the recruitment of over 10,000 Americorps Student Success Coaches, they transitioned to Alder GSE. They are excited to bring their experience as an educator and recruiter to support the next generation of enthusiastic, effective, and dedicated teachers.
