Ivan Ibarra Mora began his career as an educator teaching fifth grade in Rio Grande City, Texas, with the ACE program from the University of Notre Dame. He served two years before relocating to his hometown to teach in his former school district. In his capacity as an educator, Ivan has developed after-school tutorial programs for his students, participated in district-wide initiatives, presented professional development to staff focusing on integrating technology in the classroom, and organized partnerships with school and community. Ivan earned his Bachelor’s degree from St. Mary’s College of California and was awarded the Lasallian Leadership Award for his work in social justice and advocacy on behalf of students. He also holds a Master’s degree in Education from the University of Notre Dame, where he served as a Teaching Fellow. Through the Teaching Fellowship, he was awarded a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award for his two years of service.
