Coordinator, Monterey COE Teacher Residency at Alder GSE

Jazmin began her career in education teaching freshman composition at Loyola Marymount University before transitioning into K–12 classrooms, where she has taught every grade from kindergarten through 12th across both public and independent school settings. Over the past decades, she has served as an educator, instructional leader, and professional development consultant dedicated to fostering whole-child learning, equity, and multilingual education through engaging and inclusive instruction.
Jazmin’s classroom experience includes teaching in Waldorf education and serving as a third-grade IB dual-language teacher at a Title I school in Lubbock, Texas. Her leadership roles have included Pedagogical Leader, Director of Education, and Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELOP) Coordinator. In these positions, she has mentored teachers, led professional development, and contributed to continuous school improvement through instructional coaching and WASC accreditation efforts.
Jazmin’s work centers on curriculum development, culturally responsive teaching, and collaborative school communities that support both students and educators. She believes in reflective practice, shared leadership, and building systems that nurture growth for all learners.
Jazmin holds a deep passion for creative expression and educational equity. A published writer and Fulbright recipient, she continues to explore the intersections of culture, language, and learning. Outside of work, she enjoys reading and spending time with her husband, Michael, especially near the lighthouse they call home.
