Community Volunteer
Leslie P. Hume is an active community volunteer in the San Francisco Bay Area, with a particular focus on education and the arts. For the past twenty years, much of Leslie’s volunteer service has been centered on Stanford University. She has served on a number of advisory councils; been active in the university’s fundraising campaigns; and recently completed eleven years of service as a Trustee of Stanford, chairing the board from 2008–2012. She currently co-chairs the Stanford Live Advisory Council and is a member of the Arts Advisory Council. Leslie also volunteers for the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study, Harvard University, and is on the Dean’s Advisory Council for this institute. Previously, she served as either a member or chair of the board of the San Francisco Foundation, the Bay Area Discovery Museum, the Breakthrough Collaborative, and the San Francisco Day School. Leslie is a member of the board of directors of Aspire Public Schools. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Radcliffe College in 1969 and a Doctorate in History from Stanford University in 1979.
