Megan Yazigi is a mission-driven instructional leader known for her student-centered approach to transforming academic programs. Her journey in education began as a member of the “Future Teachers of America” club in high school where she interned at an elementary school and helped her first student learn to read. From there she attended the University of California, Davis earning her Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development and her single subject teaching credential and Master of Arts in Education. Megan taught English, History, and Theater to students in traditionally under-served communities in the greater Sacramento area for nearly a decade before taking on a leadership role at a charter school. In her leadership role, Megan designed and scaled all aspects of the system’s instructional program, driving exceptional outcomes for students. Most recently, she supported charter schools across California with the California Department of Education. A passionate believer in the power and privilege of teachers to be community leaders, Megan is thrilled to be the founding leader of the Dixon-Travis Teacher Residency Program. When Megan is not working, she juggles being a dance mom and a band mom to two pretty awesome kiddos all while keeping up with her ambitious reading goals!
